Lovely lady lumps?

Just some figure drawings from Pixelovely's Figure Drawing Tool.
You know, learning anatomy and all that =]

Flirting with the abstract

I'm continuing to explore, experiment, and warm up with some design
elements in line & shape.

I've been playing with contour line as well. I figure I'd start small, like with flowers!

Also trying to find a satisfying painting style. I'm kind of diggin this.
Reminds me of the Beauty and the Beast rose a bit.

Finals Stress

Day light savings + finals = Sadness

Portraits

Just some portraits of a very Leyendecker esque guy in class & my sister.

Fun fact:
The Leyendecker guy (Nigel) makes his own bow ties.
THE MORE YOU KNOW

Eating hearts

When I was little, I would peel my oranges and pretend they were hearts. I would crush them and suck all the juice out as though I was Nosferatu or something haha. I don't think my mom appreciated the mess.

I also vaguely remember thinking bikes were enormous.

Fix it Felix Jr.

Well Jiminy Jaminy, it's Fix-it Felix Jr., from the game Fix-it Felix Jr.

Pinocchio, Gepetto, and his daughter

Alas, the semester is near an end... and a busy semester it has been!

Here's some more Pinocchio sketches.

Still hashing out some ideas in the story and the designs. I'm glad the
semester is at an end so that I can get back to my personal work!

Warming up

I love making these!
Sometimes I hash out a bunch as a creative exercise to flex my art muscles.

Very much inspired by design oriented artists such as Pablo Picasso, as well as
mid-century design, and old style children's books... maybe art
deco as well? Who knows haha

Tadpoles, Pinocchio, and Coffee

Some more observation sketches and even some tadpole concept work.

A water color of Pinocchio. I don't think I've nailed his
design yet, but I'm getting there!!!

And last but not least, my general feelings on coffee

My dream job! And a painting

MY DREAM JOB
"Hey Rico, we wanna pay you
to draw in your sketchbook all day....
That cool?"

I cant even begin to explain to you guys how happy drawing makes me...
I never feel more in my element then when I am hunched over my sketchbook.

Here are some observation sketches from a local park.

And here's a painting style test based off one of the
sketches from above...

Critique? Questions? Comments?

Did you see that? I made a gif!
*PROUD*

Booty

Some observational sketches

There's this girl who sits in front of me in
one of my classes... She needs a belt or something.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Here's some character sketches for
Goldilocks and the Three Bears from earlier this summer

And here's an elderly lady

Pinocchio and Gepetto's daughter

Long time no post eh?
Life has come at me fast, and I have so much to tell and express.
Expect a flood of sketches!

Here's an early character design sketch of
Pinocchio and Gepetto's daughter.

Further fish studies

I'm learning so much about fish, like how the dorsal fin can
either be attached or detached, like earlobes...
0___o

Fish Studies

Oh man, Haven't posted in a while! I've been CRAZY busy with work.
I wanted to get better at drawing fish, so I drew some fish.

I've also almost filled another sketchbook! Just because I'm at work, doesnt mean I can't doodle... right.... right? ahahaha

So I'm feeling extra emotional because... well because sketchbooks are a lot like an adventure, and like on adventure's you go through a lot, and you grow a lot. I've grown so much on this one! I'll have to make a sketch dump of sorts to celebrate!

Cheer, and I hope your enjoying your summer!

More Pinocchio Sketches

I'm falling in love.

Sketchbook page

Here's a page from my sketchbook...
I really need to start posting as often as I sketch =]

Lighting final renders/Color and mood studies

I took computer animation this semester and used the final project as a means of practicing lighting. I love color, and compositing, and finessing, and mood, and atmosphere and just the whole 9 yards.

I hope to explore the medium more this summer. I think there's a lot of beneficial things that can translate into my 2d work, mostly the understanding of how things like structure and light work.

Today's Sketches

A bear, Amos Moses, and a guy with a kitty.

MONSTA!

She so pretty

Tribal African Queen of the Jungle Savanna Plains

WIP
Feed back more than welcome!
I think she looks a little too monkey like.
I'll have to go in and fix that.

Technique test

I think, I'm going to do rooms something like this, but paint my own wallpapers and things. Thoughts?
I like the cut paper look a lot, it pleases my need for graphic things =]

Sponza Atrium at night

I don't think I've posted any 3D stuff on here. This is my lighting final for my computer animation 1 class. My teacher is Mark Fitzpatrick, and he's AWESOME!

The scene is pre-modeled and textured, so I'm only responsible for the lighting. All done in Maya.
I love color and atmosphere, and really enjoy "finessing" things, so lighting has been really fun to me.

AMOS MOSES

This is for a class assignment. I gotta do some illustrations based off the
song Amos Moses as sung by Jerry Reed.

AMOS MOSES

Fishy!

I'm thinking of adding bubbles?

And the original sketch!

Ominous

Color/mood studies

Gobble Gobble

These are old, but I still like em =]

Creepy Medusa

The title is deceiving because there's two sketches on one page. ....
Just some sketches from my sketchbook of Medusa and a guy
from one of my classes.
